Cleaning the Printer

Installing Printer and Supplies

Datacard has gone through great lengths to make the installation of the printer and supplies as easy and user-friendly as possible.
Most important is to remember:

  • When receiving your new Datacard system, start by installing:
    • The ID software solution and all it’s add-ons (like Tru-PhotoTru-Signature)
    • Install the printer supplies while switched off
    • Install the printer driver and plug-ins
  • The supplies needs to be installed in the printer before you switch it on.
  • The printer driver must be installed first and the printer only plugged in on request during the installation process.

Getting Information on your printer

For technical support have the following information ready:

  • Printer make and model
  • Printer serial number
  • Printer firmware version
  • Driver version

As printers are used in the field under different conditions than the quality testing conditions, there may arise conditions that influence print quality or functionality. As these are reported and resolved, new firmware or printer driver versions are released. We recommend that you keep up to date with your version of firmware and printer driver. It makes sense to protect your investment and to save you from potential costly printing glitches.

Firmware updates

SD Firmware Version D3.15.3-10This firmware version can only be installed on the SD260L, SD360, SD460, Card Printers which have the D3 main control board installed.

If using the Datacard XPS Card Printer Driver and SDK, we recommend downloading the latest version available.

SD Firmware Version D2.11.56-5001

XPS Card Printer firmware D2.11.56-5001 is used only on D2 main control boards.

This firmware has the ShellShock vulnerability patch fix and can only be installed on the SD260, SD260L, SD360 Card.

Go-Green FirmwareDatacard® desktop printers and supplies went “green”! At the same time we’ve updated our Intelligent Supplies Technology™ to enhance the performance of your supplies. In order for the new supplies to work in your existing Datacard desktop printer, you will simply need to update your firmware.

To ensure yours is up to date please go to your Printer Toolbox and make sure the Firmware version is 32 and higher. If not, contact us to arrange your printer service and firmware update at our offices.

SP75 Firmware Version 54.94

Firmware version 54.94 improves the reliability of RFID supplies operation. This fixes an issue where supplies would be reported empty while material remained on the roll.

Note: For customers not yet at 54.x firmware, please complete the Go Green firmware update first, then upgrade to 54.79, then upgrade to 54.94.

Regionalising of RibbonsStarting on November 2015, printers will be shipping with new firmware which will regionalize ribbons in order to ensure customers are purchasing ribbon from their partners in their region. Please see the Regionalising of Ribbons for more information.
Discontinuation of the SP75 Plastic card printerReminder! Entrust Datacard will end production of the Datacard® SP75™ Plus and CP80™ Plus Printers on October 30, 2015.

The announcement regarding the end of production of the Datacard® SP75 Plus and CP80™ Plus Card Printers was originally sent November 1, 2014. This provided a 12 month notice of end of production.

Datacard Group plans to continue providing supplies, spare parts and service agreements until October 30th, 2020. Datacard will make a reasonable effort to provide support for 5 years as noted, but reserves the right to change this based on availability and/or cost of spare parts and supplies. Datacard Group will notify sales distribution channels on any change in availability and pricing as appropriate. . We remain committed to offering supplies for quality system-matched reliability, superior performance and competitive “best value” in all our consumables.

These printers have been replaced with the new Datacard® SD460™ Card Printer with CLM modular card printing system. These new systems have multiple new features, such as faster throughput, tactile impression feature, debower, bar code reader and serialised laminates.
